Pro-Palestine Protests at UCSC

Starting in November 2023, tensions at the UCSC campus started boiling.  Overseas, the Israel–Hamas war was erupting.  Pro-Palestinian students rose up and demanded to end all U.S. military aid to Israel and demanded the university to divest from all companies that enable and profit from the occupation.  As the months dragged on, the protestors began blocking roads into the campus, set up encampments to occupy the UCSC space and tried to interrupt classes.  In May 2024, over 200 police from all over California arrived in full riot gear to confront the protestors.  After hours of non-violent confrontations, the police eventually backed down.
