Storm of 2023

Starting on New Years Day, 2023 and continuing for three months, a series of atmospheric rivers, 20+ foot swells and high tides pounded the California Central Coast and caused damage to more than 1,000 homes and businesses and resulted in over $240 million in damages.  In response, Santa Cruz and Pajaro was visited by Governor Newsom, FEMA, senators, congressmen and President Biden.  Kevin Painchaud and the team at Lookout Santa Cruz won the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News for their coverage of the storms.
